In its 25th anniversary, Glamour Women of the Year celebrated those empowering women who have had an influence in favor of their work. The event, which recognizes the achievements of women in politics, fashion, business, entertainment, and more, celebrated 8 women for their milestones. Within the list of eight, four women who have inspired us greatly were included.

Reese Witherspoon was shocked to learn eight years ago, that only one out of seven executives she met was producing a movie with a woman in the lead. This led her to cofound Pacific Standard and started to get books and scripts with female leads.  The first two films, Wild and Gone Girls, earned her and the protagonists an Oscar nomination.  Last year, Reese Witherspoon started Draper James, a Southern-inspired clothing fashion brand.

Victoria Beckham’s footprint in the fashion world is so strong that almost every celebrity in Hollywood is sure to have a VB design in their wardrobe. With great talent and taste, the ex-Spice Girl has built a fashion empire. As a philanthropist and international goodwill ambassador, she has raised millions for charities that fight HIV and AIDS.

Planned Parenthood, organization lead by perseverant Cecile Richards has been in the middle of controversy. One fifth of all females will use Planned Parenthood during their lifetime. In the middle of a storm that led to some in Congress to suggest defunding Planned Parenthood, Richards stays strong as she responsibly addresses STIs, breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control, emergency contraception, and other topics to over 700,000 people.

Misty Copeland is a star ballerina. For the very first time in their 75 years history, the American Ballet Theatre promoted an African American to principle dancer. With two books in the top of New York Times best sellers, Copeland is determined to reach communities with little or no exposure to ballet.
